Gabriela Reyna-Ortega, LPC-Associate

Supervised by Nidia I. Valadez, MS, LPC-S

I’m Gabriela, a bilingual counselor and the founder of Mañana Counseling. I created this space for those who have always been the strong ones for their families, communities, and workplaces, and who are now ready to explore what it means to be supported, too.

As a daughter of Mexican immigrants, I understand the unspoken pressure many of us carry, to succeed, stay connected to our culture, and never let anyone down. These experiences shape how we move through the world, often quietly influencing our relationships, boundaries, and sense of self.

In therapy, I help clients untangle inherited expectations and reconnect with their own voice. My work supports individuals who are ready to explore those deeper layers: perfectionists, high-achievers, first-gen professionals, teens discovering who they are, and adults unpacking the impact of their upbringing.

I hold a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio, a CACREP-accredited program where I also earned a Bilingual Counseling Certificate. During graduate school, I served as a research assistant in the Strengths & Wellbeing Lab. I earned my Bachelor in Kinesiology from St. Edward’s University, and completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training through YTX Austin (formerly Wanderlust Yoga).

Approach

My approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Narrative Therapy. I use CBT to help you recognize and shift unhelpful thought patterns that contribute to anxiety, perfectionism, and overwhelm. Narrative Therapy helps us explore the cultural, familial, and personal stories that shape how you see yourself, and gives you space to rewrite what no longer fits.

I also integrate Attachment Theory and Family Systems Theory to explore how your relationships, upbringing, and cultural context influence your emotional world today.

For clients who feel stuck in looping thoughts, emotional blocks, or deep-rooted beliefs, I offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). While often used for trauma, EMDR can also support healing around anxiety, shame, perfectionism.
